So if you have found the amp you love, I wouldn't hesitate for one second because it's 100W instead of 50W. And Marshall master volume circuits can work really awesome as long as you don't squeeze the volume down too low. There's not as much different in total volume from a 50 watt vs a 100 watt as you might think. I'm hesitant on the 2203 because, well, do I need 100 watts? However, the master seems to work great. If the amps are consistent, that's probably OK. I never run across these amps, so buying a 2204 would almost have to be an online purchase. Some guys tell me that these JMPs are not consistent, others say that they are. However, the reason that I am considering the 2203 is because I can see it, play it and hear it in person. I've always used combos, and never anything over 35 watts ('67 Vibrolux Reverb), so I figured the 50 watt 2204 would be the max I would want to go. So stage volume has to be paid attention to. I've done quite a bit of gigging in the past 10 years, and probably like most of you have never had the luxury of turning my amps up wherever I want. I had them pop the hood and it's all original and clean. Well, yesterday I was in a music store and saw a ' head, and even though it's the 100 watt version, I thought I would give it a spin. So I decided that when the time was right, I would pick one up. He was playing blues, and the amp was set on the verge of breakup.

I've played old Fenders for years, but a few years ago I heard a local guy playing through a late 70's master volume JMP 2204 head (50 watts) and just loved it.
